- The Ranger S runs a 48 volt lithium battery. A healthy 48V lithium pack charges to 54.6 volts, so the charger's label must read output 54.6V DC. A charger labeled only "48V" without that output figure is not automatically correct.
- Heybike sells an official replacement charger through its own store with a model selector; choosing Ranger S gets you the matching unit.
- Official and replacement units for this bike are rated at 2 amps or 3 amps output. Either charges the pack; the 3A unit finishes faster. If you are unsure what your pack supports, stay at or below the amperage printed on your original charger.
- Connector type is where listings disagree: some Ranger-family chargers are described with a DC barrel plug and others with a 3-pin XLR style plug. Match the plug on your original charger and the port on your battery before ordering anything.
How to check what you have
Pick up your original charger and read the label. You are confirming three lines: output voltage (must be 54.6V), output current (the amp figure), and then physically note the connector shape on the cable end. Photograph all three. Any replacement, official or third party, must match the first and third exactly; the amp figure can match or be lower. If the original charger is lost, the battery's own label states the pack voltage, and Heybike support can confirm the correct connector for your production year.
Third-party chargers
Several third-party brands sell chargers listed for the Ranger S. These are acceptable when three things are true: the output is 54.6V, the connector matches yours, and the unit carries a recognized safety listing (UL or ETL marks on the label). Unbranded chargers with no safety marking are the ones behind most charger horror stories in owner communities, and they are not worth the small saving on a lithium pack you store indoors.
The trap to avoid
Never buy a 52 volt charger for this bike. A 52V lithium charger outputs 58.8 volts, which overcharges a 48V pack and is a genuine fire risk, and the listings sit side by side in search results. The reverse mistake, a charger built for 48V lead-acid scooters, undercharges or mischarges lithium packs. The output line on the label, 54.6V DC, is the only number that settles it.
What owners actually do
The common pattern is to buy the official Heybike charger as the primary and keep a certified third-party 54.6V unit as a spare at work or in a second location. Owners also follow the manufacturer guidance most brands print but few people read: charge on a hard surface, unplug when full, and do not leave a pack charging unattended overnight.
